Perceiving time is to observe change, as waves move from one place to another or smash against rocks, breaking off larger pieces and pulverising them into grains of sand. In time, the whole world is a sculpture, and I wanted to create a piece that gave voice to the change of an environment. In order to do this we needed to work from a larger timescale, since change is so incremental and chaotic. An algorithm analysed data from weather predictions of local (Bergen, Norway) temperatures from the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research to observe 100 years into the future. The sonic research explored the different layers and patterns of the data, using each year and its cycle as a pulse and exploring how the repetition could act as an anchor point to observe change. Moments of change trigger spatial movement through the installation.
