Flora Ex Machina

Flora ex Machina (2021) isolated specific signals from the Beatrixpark in Amsterdam to create a new sensory-deprived landscape. The parks trees were connected to vibration microphones, transforming them into antennas that captured their subtle movements.

This project, and its six custom omnidirectional speaker sculptures, encouraged observers to investigate the trees’ inner workings in a new focused space, creating an abstract and disconnected, yet accurate, representation of the movements pf the trees in the park.

Supported by The Warp and a a grant from Stadsdeel Zuid, Amsterdam.
